Privacy on Gameslate (updated Dec 4/03)

Gameslate takes privacy very seriously, but we also understand that invididuals cannot be truly anonymous in order to interact well with other people in games, forums, etc.

Gameslate attempts to put the power of control with you, the individual. How much personal info you share with Gameslate, Gameslate's other users and everyone else who may visit this site is up to you.

If you wish, you can get very personal in your bio profile. You can share your email address, your locale, etc. We do recommend that you do this things, it builds trust with other users.

Gameslate has a user-tracking feature which will reveal partial domains of a user if their tracking feature is turned on. Multiple accounts are the most common form of cheating in turn-based games, so the ability for players to determine on their own whom they trust is important. If you wish to remain anonymous however, you can choose to leave the tracking off by simply not joining any arenas requiring it (IE: stick to the 'anonymous' game arenas).

A personal comment from Rog:
I can't stand spam. If you've sent me an email, you've probably run into my whitelist spam filter and you're already aware how much of a nuisance I think spam is.

Under no circumstances will Gameslate give your email address or private information out to a third party without your permission. Gameslate will also attempt to obscure your email address from automated systems if you choose it to be viewed publicly in your profile (the default however, is to keep your email private).

I also dislike breaches of privacy where personal info and private messages are concerned. Gameslate is operated with a minimal of staff and any administator caught invading the privacy of Gameslate's users will be held accountable. The only time in which personal messages will be read is if a claim of harassment has been made and in those circumstances all parties will be notified.

The graffiti system within the Gates Motel game is different however. Graffiti may seem to be anonymous, but details are shown to administrators and arena owners. This was done because of previous situations of abusive graffiti.

I will do everything in my power to maintain the best possible balance between privacy and supporting Gameslate as an active community.
